About the Language Passport

Types of information appearing in the Language Passport and relation to the Language Biography and the Dossier. The Language Passport summarizes three types of information:

(1) It provides biographical information on a learner’s language learning and intercultural communication experiences, both in school and outside of school.
(2) It summarizes the learners’ language skills in each of the world languages they have studied outside of their native language(s) by recording their self- assessments in each skill from the Language Biography checklists they used for each of five skills (listening, reading, writing, spoken production, and spoken interaction.)

(3) It summarizes the results of the language tests as well as diplomas and certificates that learners have listed and explained in the Language Dossier. Both the Language Dossier and the Language Passport also allow learners to list professional certifications, such as a teaching certificate in French or a translation certificate for English and Arabic.
